F1 22 – the official game for the ongoing FIA Formula One World Championship 2022 – will be released on July 1, Electronic Arts announced on Thursday. The successor to F1 2021 will see players race in the final season with redesigned cars, updated rules and gameplay options. Gamers can also test drive the new Miami International Autodrome. The PC version of the game also comes with VR compatibility, but there’s no word from EA about whether F1 22 will get PSVR support.
In an announcement posted on its official website on Thursday, EA revealed that F1 22 will be released on July 1 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and on PC via the EA app, Origin, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Gamers who pre-order the F1 22 Champions Edition will have access to the game three days early – on June 28.
As part of the updated gameplay coming to F1 22, gamers will be able to customize formation laps, safety car periods and pit stops. This year, EA has also added F1 sprint races. Gamers will have access to the new 19-turn Miami International Autodrome, along with new cars and updated handling, EA said.
Unlike previous releases – including F1 2021 – the upcoming F1 22 title offers VR compatibility for immersive gameplay on PC, via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. As mentioned, EA has yet to reveal if the game will get PSVR support. Meanwhile, gamers can also access My Team and Career Mode with two-player split-screen and online multiplayer, as well as a new hub called F1 Life, where they can show off supercars, clothing, and accessories unlocked while playing the game.
The game is available to pre-order for Rs. 2,999 for PC, Rs. 4,499 and Rs. 3,999 for PS5 and PS4 on the PlayStation Store and Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 3,999 for the Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One respectively. The F1 22 Champions Edition costs Rs. 4,299 for PC, Rs. 5,499 on Xbox Store and Rs. 5,299 on the PlayStation Store.
If you pre-order the game before May 16, gamers will also get access to Miami-themed content, including a livery, suit, helmet, gloves, cap, t-shirt and wall art designed by a local artist. Meanwhile, the F1 22 Champions Edition will give access to the game three days before the release date, along with F1 22 New Era content, an F1 Life Starter Pack, new My Team Icons and 18,000 PitCoin, according to EA.
On PC and consoles, you can access F1 22 for a limited time with the EA Play subscription which costs Rs. 315 a month in India. Alternatively, you can get full unlimited access to the game on PC with the EA Play Pro subscription coming in at Rs. 999 per month in India. EA Play also offers early access.
F1 22 – which now uses the same abbreviated year style as EA’s other annual games, following the Codemasters acquisition – will be out July 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. It can be played in VR with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
